About Our Facials
At Georgetown Allure Medical Spa, our professional, medical-grade facials offer much more benefits than simply a relaxing treat. They are necessary to allow your aesthetician to get to know your skin & skin concerns, they can be performed regularly to treat or maintain the condition of your skin, and they allow you to put your best face forward. Our facials are targeted, yet customized for your unique needs. Every facial includes deep cleansing, a hot towel to soften skin & open pores, steam & a gommage peel, mild to more targeted extractions, a treatment mask, massage, targeted serums, lip balm, SPF and a complimentary LED session.
The value of having regular facials goes beyond treating the skin - they are your best allies when having medical procedures done such as microneedling, IPL, and chemical peels. We recommend having your facial performed first, followed by your medical procedure. It is even possible to have both done on the same day, with guidance and recommendation by your esthetician. We use the highest quality ingredients & cutting-edge technology to deliver quality facials. We use brands such as SkinCeuticals, Dr. Dennis Gross, Image, & more. In order to make this financially sound, we offer different types of memberships to meet your needs.

One of the best Facials I have had...I had such a wonderful experience at this spa! The owner Gal is very nice and accomodating. The atmosphere was relaxing and beautifully maintained, and my facial with Sedi was truly exceptional. She was kind, knowledgeable, and made me feel completely at ease from start to finish. My skin felt refreshed and glowing afterward, and I could really tell she takes pride in her work. Highly recommend both Sedi and the salon—you’ll leave feeling pampered and rejuvenated!

Frequently Asked Questions
Who can have a facial?
At Georgetown Allure Medical Spa, our team is multicultural, of all skin tones & speak French, Hebrew, Spanish & Farsi. This means that we understand people from all walks of life, all skin types & conditions and we have a customized approach for every person’s needs and goals. From having your first facial, to preparing for a wedding, a big birthday, or an event, we take pride in meeting your needs. We have professional-grade products that are specifically formulated for sensitive skin, dehydrated skin, aging skin, dull skin, acneic skin, & more. Our clients include women, men, teens, college-aged, young professionals, busy moms, pregnant women, elderly - and everyone else in between!
Who can’t have a facial?
If you have sunburned skin, an active herpes outbreak, lash-extensions done in the last 36 hours, or have taken Accutane in the previous 6 months, then a facial cannot be performed on your skin. We will have to wait until your skin is healed from the sunburn, as sunburned skin is damaged and sensitive.
Why do I need facials?
A regular facial routine is more about skin health and maintenance than it is about luxury or pampering, although many do find it to be a relaxing, enjoyable experience. Facial services help increase circulation and stimulate the skin. They can also help slow down premature aging and drastically improve conditions such as acne, redness and rosacea. Facials are a great preventative treatment to help you beat wrinkles before they occur, and can also help you achieve lighter, brighter, younger-looking skin.
What are the benefits of a facial?
- Proper skin preparation for other medical procedures
- Decongested, smoother & more revived skin
- Enhancement of the skin condition over time
- Minimal downtime after targeted treatments
- Rehydrating, rebalancing & soothing the skin
- Plump, smooth, glowing skin
- And of course - deep relaxation & self care!
How often is a facial recommended?
Facials are recommended every 3-4 weeks. To make this affordable for everyone, we offer 3 different types of memberships to meet your needs. Our Advanced Membership covers 1 facial a month for $150 (add-ons are à la carte), Our Pro Membership covers 1 facial a month with unlimited add-ons for $280. Our Complete Membership covers 2 services, usually 1 facial w/unlimited add-ons and a medical procedure. Alternatively, you can schedule your next appointment at checkout-out in order to save 30% on your next facial (add-ons are not discounted). For more information about our memberships, click here.
What should I do to prepare for my facial?
You should stop using self-tanners 12 hours before and actives (retinoids, acids, vitamin c, prescription creams) 3-5 days before your appointment. Avoid long or unprotected exposure to the sun for 1 week prior. Using a simple cleanser and sunscreen for the 3 days leading up to your appointment is sufficient. If possible, come with a face free of makeup as that will save time on makeup removal but it isn’t required. Most importantly, relax, forget about everything else & allow yourself to relax, enjoy & be taken on a sensorial journey!
What can I expect at my facial appointment?
Plan to arrive at your first appointment 20 minutes early. Since we are located in the heart of Washington, DC, we often have to plan our commute around protests, local events & more. Arriving 20 minutes before your appointment ensures that you have enough time to park your car, meet us on the 7th floor at 1145 19th Street NW, and have a quick chat, coffee or tea before your facial. We recommend that you fill out your client form prior to your arrival. Your facial appointment will be one-hour long with the actual facial being performed for 50 minutes.
What should I expect after my facial?
Some people see results immediately, and your skin should feel different right away. The skin feels clean, smooth, hydrated, and may be a little pink in more sensitive skin types.
Is there any downtime or side effects after facials? Will my skin look red?
Facials are generally a low-risk treatment with minimal to no downtime. Some people may experience slight pinkness or sensitivity, which usually subsides within a few hours. Though very rare, some people might experience a small breakout after a facial, also called a “skin purge”. A purge, or detoxification of the skin, occurs when bacteria already present in the skin, comes up as a result of the deep cleansing and massage. This should subside over the following week & we recommend using a product with salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide to help mitigate the symptoms. It is important to mention any allergies to specific ingredients so that your esthetician can adapt your facial.
How do I treat my skin after a facial?
Refrain from touching your skin during your facial - though we recommend making it a habit to not touch your face with unwashed hands or outside of your morning or evening cleanse. We also recommend avoiding acids & retinoids for 3-5 days as your skin was deeply exfoliated & mild acids may have been applied.
How can I maintain the results of my facial?
While the effects of a facial aren’t permanent, extending that post-facial glow is possible with the right habits. Hydration is key. Choose products containing hyaluronic acid to help bind water to the skin and protect its moisture barrier. Avoid products containing comedogenic like vitamin e, coconut oil, cocoa butter, isopropyl palmitate, algae extract, etc. Since your face underwent a specialized treatment, avoid products like alcohol-based toners, scrubs and deep exfoliators. Use mild products that will not irritate fresh skin, there will be no need for aggressive ingredients such as acids, vitamin c and retinoids. Protect your fresh new face. Freshly deep-cleansed skin is more susceptible to damage caused by UVA and UVB rays. Wear a hat outdoors if you can, and use sun care products containing SPF50 or higher every day, rain or shine.
What does a facial NOT treat?
A facial cannot treat wrinkles, scarring, pitted skin, bacterial infections or fungal acne, rosacea, melasma, loose skin, and dark circles. For these concerns we offer a wide range of medical procedures & injectables. For bacterial infections & fungal acne we recommend that you see a dermatologist. Some of our medical procedures include microneedling pen, radiofrequency microneedling, IPL, TCA peel, Morpheus8. Our injectables include Botox, Sculptra, Restylane Kysse, PRF, EZ Gel & more.
How do you determine what facial treatments are best for my skin?
Consulting with one of our licensed estheticians is the best way to determine the right facial treatment for your skin. They can assess your skin’s needs and recommend treatments that will deliver the desired results. Be honest about your journey with your skin, reactions you have had in the past, and what your current regimen is at home. Also important to note is any allergies to ingredients such as aspirin or if you are taking any medications such as blood thinners, prescription creams for your skin, or Accutane. Your esthetician works with a range of products and instruments to suit different skin types, tones, ethnicities, and conditions.
Can I have a facial if I am pregnant?
Absolutely! Facials during pregnancy are especially important during pregnancy for many reasons. Hormonal changes can affect your skin and having regular services can help alleviate some of the symptoms( i.e. breakout, increased redness and sensitivity). Facials can also be a wonderful relaxation tool to balance out the toll of all the changes your body is undergoing
Do you perform facials for men?
Not only do we perform facials for men - quite a few of our members are men! They get everything done - from facials, to medical procedures & even injectables. In addition to healthier skin, men seek our services to address irritation, redness, ingrown hairs, and razor burn associated with shaving.
How long after a Botox appointment can I have a facial?
You should wait two weeks after your Botox appointment to have a facial. This allows the Botox to settle into the muscles and avoids the risk of being massaged and spread to other areas.
How long after a chemical peel can I have a facial?
You should wait two weeks after a chemical peel to allow the skin to peel and recover before you have a facial.
How long after Morpheus8, RF Microneedling or Skin Pen Microneedling can I have a facial?
As long as the skin is not broken, inflamed, and you have followed the pre/post instructions - you may come in as soon as 2 weeks after your treatment. Alternatively - you may choose to have a facial before your treatment in order to better prep the skin & have an even better result.
